UK Info Disc
The UK Info Disc by 192.com is Britain’s leading people finder on CD ROM. It's a CDROM version of the UK People Search at 192.com and is available to order for delivery to run on your own computer. Or at least it WAS! The 192.com company have decided that they'll stop offering the UK Info Disc. Of course 192.com as an online system still remains, it's just that you can't get it on CD anymore. The rest of this page remains historical apart from the philosophical note at end...

As you now know, the 192.com company no longer sell UK Info disks so this page which was promoting it is now going to be directed to 192.com
192.com affiliate program was with DGM PRO but this has now GONE. A shame. However the good news is that you can still go to 192.com and use the facilities online and you can still sign up to have an account.
The view of 192.com seems to be that an online facility replaces the CD. In my opinion this may make good business sense, but philosophically I think that having an actual product is better. I've seen some companies that think that books are obsolete and that there is no need to have a book now that you can look things up online. I disagree, and I consider that although online things are profitable, up-to-date, and available in most places, there is a definite advantage to books and to other offline media. The major philosophical advantage is independence. It's a bit like having your own electricity generator rather than being solely dependent on electricity companies. Offline resources are much more stable and less subject to being cut off. Another analogy can be seen in my survivalist philosophical comments about cisterns. However, let none of this get in the way of the continued promotion of 192.com which continues at this site. We get on well with the 192.com company and it's great to see their affiliate program has resumed even though poor old DGM UK has been lost.
