a possible revival of Norse Beliefs?

Belief in Thor and other Norse deities has dwindled, even though various evil monotheistic religions have ensnared vast numbers of people into believing stories which are even less credible. It's not belief that's in short supply, but good choice of belief.

As most of the trouble in the world can be blamed either directly or indirectly on monopolistic monotheistic religions having a stranglehold, it seems appropriate that diverse alternatives should be found. Wicca and Pagan beliefs are already making a comeback, despite centuries of persecution, although Wicca is still a while away from having Nation State status of Strega. However, there may be a possibility of a revival of Norse (Heathen) beliefs. Here's the plan...

What would really get Norse beliefs back on the map would be if Thor were to cause The Pope to be struck by lightning! Well, you might think that's unlikely, but apparently various christianist idolatry sacred items have already been struck by lightning. For example, see www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/15/AR2010061505135.html and also www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-513855/Amazing-moment-worlds-biggest-Christ-struck-lightning.html

From a Norse god's point of view, The Pope would be a relatively easy target for a bolt of lightning. The Pope is often seen outdoors, and is trundled around in a special fishtank-like car which may be bulletproof, but not the best Faraday-shield against a direct lightning hit. We will see if Thor decides to apply some justice there.

Meanwhile, according to scientific principles, the chance of a person being killed by a lightning strike, is less than the chance of them winning the lottery, assuming a few basic things such as actually buying a ticket each week. More about this at the page of Lightning and Lottery

Then again, Christmas comes but once a year, whereas every week has a Thorsday in it!

Incidentally, if you would like to put a bet on The Pope being struck by lightning, it would be interesting to see what odds the bookies are offering.
