BT Tradespace

Although I have my misgivings about BT Tradespace, I admire BT for trying such a daring idea, to create an online business community. It will be interesting to see how this works out. See what you think.

British Telecom: "BT Tradespace: It’s BT’s unique, online business directory of small businesses offering ecommerce and social network features. ...Launched in April 2007, over 34 000 business are registered by the end of November".

Then, Tradespace owners can: >

• promote their products or services,
• sell confidently online (via PayPal),
• use contacts features to build relationships with new customers (e.g. blogging)
• create or join communities to network and talk to other businesses or customers.

When registering for free(1), a business owner can:

• list in one business Channel of BT Tradespace online Directory,
• build a profile and enter a company description,
• upload up to 5 photos, 2 podcasts and 2 videos,
• advertise and sell up to 5 items on their BT Tradespace with PayPal(2),
• share thoughts, ideas and promote products or services with unlimited blogging,
• join or create unlimited communities.

(1) Refers to BT Tradespace Basic site. Upgrades are available on a subscription basis. Personal computer and Internet access required. General terms and conditions are available on www.bttradespace.com

(2) The PayPal facility can be added free of charge; however, BT Tradespace and Paypal will both charge you a transaction fee when you receive payments. BT charges applied monthly.
