3D Print

The start of machines making machines including the type of thing that they are themselves

Robots that can make robots. The idea of 3D printing starts off as being able to make objects using a 3D scanning system, but it soon develops into a general purpose manufacturing process in which just about anything can be made, including the machines that make the machines. Here are a few helpful links about this sort of thing...

Most of the original list of these web addresses of 3D Print contacts were snaffled from issue 1142 of MicroMart which had the Ad for Vivostar in.

Note that this is distinct from Mass Production. Whereas in mass-production it was possible to make a great many identical objects quickly, the thing with this new age of robots making all sorts of things is that the objects are "hand-crafted by robots" and can be individual. This makes the whole thing very much along the lines of Linux and the freedom of DIY Robotics!
