The term "BANDWIDTH" was originally heard in matters of radio telegraphy.

Bandwidth; radio - measured in megahertz

Later, it became a term in common usage to do with specification of hosting of websites.

Bandwidth; hosting/websites - measured in gigabytes per month

In a way it should have been a term in hatting, to do with how many inches wide the band was around the hat!
